Mango is rich in dietary fibre

Mango is rich in water and dietary fibre, which are both essential for good digestion and preventing a spike in blood glucose.

6/9

Here are a few myths about the humble mangoes

Mangoes can make you fat

Eating mango will not make you fat. It is just like some other fruit rich in fibre, antioxidants, minerals and nutrients. Mango cannot lead to weight gain if eaten in a controlled manner.

7/9

Diabetics cannot consume mango

Yes, mangoes are rich in sugar but even diabetics can consume mangoes in moderation. The quantity has to be restricted as the glycemic index of mangoes is high. To be on a safer side, you can always consult your physician for more clarity.

8/9

Mango related skin breakout cannot be controlled

Mango is alkaline in nature and is great for improving skin and hair quality. But because mangoes are available in summer and sometimes due to the hyperacid production by the body, eating mangoes can give you acne. To avoid this, soak mangoes in water one-two hours before you eat them.

9/9

The right way to consume mangoes

Mangoes should not be consumed along with lunch and dinner. It should be consumed as a meal itself or as a mid-meal snack. Eating this way can help prevent weight gain as well as post-meal glucose spikes.

Try not to juice the mango and have it whole, as juicing causes fibre and nutrition loss.

Enjoy your mangoes!
