Want to live to 100 years?

A healthy and fit body is essential to make it to 100 years on planet Earth. Unfortunately, with so many chronic diseases attacking people of all ages, it can be difficult for many to live healthy for this long.

However, if you follow the correct lifestyle, you may be able to safeguard your health and live a long and happy life. Christianne Wolff, an award-winning author, has shared five longevity tips from her book 'The Healed State', reports Express UK.

Feed your microbiome

Your gut microbiome is the home of trillions of bacteria and other microbes that live in your gut. These microbes influence your digestion, immune system, and skin health. Now when you consume junk food, which is high in sugar and fat, you may strain your microbiome, resulting in poor digestion, immunity, skin quality and so on. Along with junk food, alcohol consumption can have a similar impact.

On the other hand, eating probiotic foods could boost your gut health. The expert recommended consuming foods packed with beneficial bacteria, such as kombucha, live yogurt, tempeh, kimchi and kefir. The expert added that foods packed with antioxidant compounds, such as cacao, pomegranates, berries, almonds, and spinach, could also benefit your microbiome and overall longevity.

3/6

Be optimistic

After the factor of your diet, comes your mind. Keeping a positive mindset can cut your chances of early death by a whopping 40 percent, according to Wolff. She recommended focusing on the positives instead of worries to boost your longevity.

4/6

Sleep well

Wolff said: “We do most of our healing in our sleep, so if we don't sleep well we can’t repair well.” The expert explained that poor sleep can lead to a host of health problems, such as poor immunity and heart disease.

5/6

Practice breath work

Wolff explained that breath work not only increases lung capacity and alleviates diseases triggered by stress, but it could also increase your lifespan.

“What is exciting about that is that we can increase our lung capacity with breath work, exercise and meditation very easily,” Wolff added.

6/6

Do regular meditation

The benefits associated with meditation are endless, including a longer lifespan. Wolff explains, “Perhaps the most significant determinant of healing with meditation is telomere length (telomeres are the end cap of our DNA), which is a very important marker of aging and longevity. Longer telomeres are correlated with less illness and longer lifespan.”
