5 brain cancer symptoms that are more than "just a headache"

We all get these worse headaches, that last for an hour or two, but we don't think much of it. Stress, poor posture, dehydration or lack of sleep, becomes our reasons to blame. While most of the headaches are normal or temporary, some may be a sign of something more serious taking place inside our brain. The tricky part is that, most of its early symptoms can mimic health issues, including common headaches. The only way to know, is to pay attention to the frequency, intensity and symptoms that it accompanies. A headache that feels different or comes with other unusual signs could be your body trying to signal a deeper issue. Here are five symptoms of brain cancer that go beyond just a simple headache and deserve medical attention. IP International Journal of Comprehensive and Advanced Pharmacology lists all the symptoms of brain cancer, that might seem like normal ehadaches, but are more than that.

2/6

Persistent or worsening headaches

A normal headache usually comes and goes, it responds to pain and rest relief and is often linked to a specific trigger such as tension or fatigue, but if the headaches become more frequent, getting painful over the time, it could be a red flag. These headaches can be caused by the increased pressure inside the skull from an expanding tumor. They tend not to respond to over-the-counter drugs and are frequently accompanied by nausea or vomiting

3/6

Vision changes

Brain tumors that are exerting pressure on the optic nerve or visual processing areas of the brain can produce changes in vision. You may see blurry vision, double vision, or even periods of transient vision loss. These symptoms may be sudden or gradual and are often subtle enough to be overlooked initially. If you catch yourself squinting increasingly more, having difficulty focusing, or feeling lights are too bright, it's worth mentioning to your physician.

4/6

New-onset seizures

Having a first-time seizure as an adult is a serious warning sign. Seizures may be caused by tumors that disrupt the brain's electrical impulses. They can manifest as a full-body convulsion, jerking in one area of the body, confusion for a few moments, or being unable to speak for a short while. One isolated seizure should be checked out immediately, as it may be the first noticeable sign that something bad is happening inside the brain.

5/6

Cognitive changes

One of the more insidious symptoms of brain cancer is mental decline or obvious personality and behavioral changes. Frontal lobe or other brain areas' tumors can disrupt memory, judgment, decision-making, and mood control. Forgetfulness, irritability, depression, anxiety, or confusion may be observed by you or the people around you. These are typically insidious but can have considerable impact on daily function over time.

6/6

Balancing problems

A cerebellum or other motor-control areas of the brain tumor can cause coordination difficulties with the body. This may involve walking difficulties, frequent stumbling, dizziness, or any problem with detailed motor skills such as writing or buttoning one's shirt. Numbness or weakness, particularly if it affects one side of the body, must be regarded as a serious symptom, because it can be a sign of a tumor compressing particular areas of the brain.
