Must-try Kebabs

World Kebab Day is celebrated on the second Friday of July. The day honors the tasty tradition of kebabs, which are grilled or roasted and served with rumali roti and chutney. As per food experts, it's a dish consisting of pieces of meat or vegetables that are grilled, roasted, or cooked on a skewer or spit. According to food historians, it originated in the Middle East and Central Asia but has many regional variations across the world. This piece of information explores 12 types of kebabs no foodie should ever miss.

Subz Kebab


As the name suggests, it's a kebab made with lots of vegetables (sabzi) and uses breadcrumbs for crunch and as a binding agent. It goes well with green chutney and rumali roti.

Tunday Kebab



They are also known as Galouti kebabs and are traditionally prepared using 100 exotic spices. These kebabs were first prepared by Haji Murad Ali and they were called tunday kebabs because their creator had just one hand.

Shami Kebab



It's a melt-in-the-mouth kebab made with mutton, cumin seeds, chana dal, onion, coriander leaves, and green chilli.

Mutton Seekh Kebab


It's a Mughlai treat and is made with minced mutton, onion, and lots of spices.

Reshmi Kebab


It's a non-vegetarian chicken kebab that uses a lot of cream and cashew nuts.

Peshawari Kebab


Originated in Peshawar, it's a treasure from Pashtun cuisine and uses minced mutton, ground spices, and curd.

Hara Bhara kebab


It is a vegetarian kebab dish which is green in colour and uses a lot of green peas and spinach.

Kakori Kebab


They are a part of Mughlai cuisine, where 'Kakori' refers to 'softest’ and ‘kababs’ are the meat wrapped on the skewers and cooked over an open charcoal fire.

Lamb Chop Kebab



It's a variety of Galouti Kebab, and is made with lamb chops, onion, garlic, rice flour, salt, and gram flour.

Dahi Kebab



It's a melt-in-the-mouth kebab dish made with hung curd, spices, coriander leaves, cashew paste, breadcrumbs, and gram flour.

Soya Kebab


This one is made with powdered soya chunks mixed with moong dal paste and also uses some gram flour as a binding agent. It's a vegetarian delight.

Mushroom Galouti


It's a healthy kebab dish made with garam masala, salt, cashew paste, gram flour, onion, ginger, ghee, button mushrooms, garlic, and green chillies.
