Understanding bloating and home remedies work

It is said that irregular eating habits and too much junk indulgence often result in weakening of digestive health and, with growing age, result in excessive bloating. Bloating is one of the common digestive issues where your stomach feels swollen, tight, or uncomfortably full, often due to excess gas, indigestion, or water retention. Excessive bloating may cause abdominal pain, excessive burping or gas, heaviness after meals, loss of appetite, and even temporary weight fluctuations. Hence, it is very important to pay attention to what you eat, when you eat, and in what quantity. However, sometimes, even after following the rules, people complain of bloating, and for those, nutrition and wellness expert Dimple Jangda shared a reel video on Instagram, where she shared 4 home remedies that can help reduce bloating and boost digestion. Scroll down to read the details.

2/5

Hing Water

As per Dimple, all you need to do is, take a pinch of hing, dissolve it in five teaspoons of water, stir it quickly and drink it immediately. It’s an Indian spice which is kind of smelly and pungent, which helps in releasing all the trapped gases in your stomach and debloats your system immediately. And according to Ayurveda, hing helps in breaking down food more efficiently and preventing issues like gas, bloating, and indigestion. It is known for balancing Vata dosha, which is responsible for movement in the body but can cause digestive discomfort when imbalanced. Hing also acts as a natural antispasmodic, making it useful for relieving cramps and easing symptoms of IBS. Additionally, hing may help improve respiratory health, reduce headaches caused by gas buildup, and support metabolic health when used in small daily amounts.

3/5

CCF Tea

CCF Tea refers to cumin, fennel, and coriander seeds tea, which is said to boost digestive health. Dimple suggests adding a piece of cardamom and some carom seeds to the tea. All you need to do is boil two liters of water along with 4 tsp cumin seeds, 4 tsp fennel seeds, 4 tsp coriander seeds, 4 cardamom, and a pinch of carom seeds. Boil and bring it down to half, filter and drink this throughout the day before and after every meal. She suggests having it 30 minutes before a meal and 30 minutes after a meal. This will help in stimulating your digestion and your metabolism because these seeds have carminative properties, she adds.

4/5

Ginger and Rock Salt

For the third remedy, she suggests taking a piece of ginger, rolling it in rock salt and having it just before the meals. This helps in stimulating your metabolic fire and aids the digestion process. Ayurveda states that ginger can help in breaking down food more efficiently and preventing the build-up of gas. Its warming, carminative properties help relax the intestinal muscles, reduce air accumulation, and ease discomfort caused by Vata imbalance, which is the main dosha behind bloating. Ginger also improves circulation in the digestive tract, supports faster gastric emptying, and reduces inflammation.

5/5

Lemon Shot

For this, she suggests to take juice of a lemon, adding some water, pink salt, cumin powder, and black pepper. Stir well and take it after every meal. This simple mix gently wakes up the digestive system, supports smoother metabolism, and prevents that mid-meal heaviness so many people experience without realising it. It also nourishes agni, the digestive fire, ensuring food is processed efficiently. This will help in preventing excess weight gain and boost digestive health. As per Ayurveda, lemon's sour taste helps stimulate the secretion of digestive enzymes and bile, which improves the breakdown of food and prevents gas formation. Lemon also helps balance Vata and Kapha doshas, both of which can contribute to heaviness, bloating, and sluggish digestion when imbalanced.
