The Study

According to Medical News Today, a study was conducted on 17 women aged between 40-67 by Dr. Lindsey Christman, who is a graduate research assistant from the Food Science and Human Nutrition Department at the University of Florida. All these women were divided in two groups, where one group was asked to drink two glasses daily of dealcoholized Muscadine wine and the other a placebo beverage without polyphenols over the period of three weeks. And after a three-week break, they switched to the other beverage for an additional six weeks.

What’s so special about Muscadine wine?

This wine is made with Muscadine grapes, which is unlike any other grape varieties and is known to thrive in warm and humid climates. These grapes are generally dark purple to black in colour and are often used for making red, white or rose wines. These grapes are a major source of polyphenols, which is a type of antioxidant that has the potential to improve skin conditions.
