Why water is important for your body?

An average human body contains 70 per cent water, and drinking sufficient amount of water is extremely important for the health of a human being. A well-known rule of thumb states that we should aim to drink at least 8 glasses of water in a day. However, there is no scientific validation for this very fact. The lifestyle, bodily needs and climate determine the intake of fluids. Be it 8 glasses of water or 10, it should be simply according to how much your body asks for.

Drinking water is the utmost important thing you do for your body, and not having an adequate amount can lead to dehydration. As a result of which, there are serious adverse effects on your body as well. Dehydration can hamper the normal functions of the body which require the presence of water such as no urination at all, fainting, lack of sleep, constant fatigue, dry mouth and sunken eyes and so on. Simply quenching your thirst and moving on with your life is not enough, your body needs more water than you might think. Drinking only water can be super boring and torturous initially, but there are a few fascinating tricks that would help you get along and make you gulp more and more water in an interesting way.

2/9

Put some flavour to your fluid

Adding a few of your favourite flavours to the water would not harm, rather amp up the game. Slices of cucumber, strawberries, ginger, or drops of lemon juice will add that required flavour to your regular water while motivating you to drink more water frequently. You can even play around with different combinations like strawberry-cucumber or ginger-mint, and so on.

3/9

Indulge in hot and spicy food

Adding hot and spicy foods into your diet will naturally trigger you to drink more and more water. But if you cannot tolerate chilly and hot food, it is okay, skip it.

4/9

Develop a routine

Make a routine to drink a glass of water after waking up in the morning and before bedtime at night. Drink water before a meal or workout and again a glass of water after a workout. This will make sure that you have had, at least, a required amount of water in a day.

5/9

Drink from large bottles

Large bottles or containers help as an excellent motivator for you to drink enough water in a day. Make a rule to finish the water in that bottle by a particular time. It is easier to achieve the required amount of water that you need in a day.

6/9

Use water applications

Using applications that remind you to drink a glass of water are trending and beneficial for you. In case, you are busy with work and have completely forgotten about drinking water, these apps will come to your rescue.

7/9

For every glass of soda, drink water

Try to replace sodas and coffee with water. We know, it would be torturous initially, but gradually you will get used to it and enjoy drinking water more than those unhealthy aerated and caffeine loaded drinks.

8/9

Eat plenty of water-rich foods

Cucumbers, watermelons, tomatoes are the ones you need to binge on. Just gorge on these watery and super delicious fruits and add to the water content in your body. These will add to the health while making sure that you aren’t dehydrated.

9/9

When hungry, drink water

If you are hungry, first have a glass of water to save yourself away from being dehydrated. Water has the power to calm your hunger for a while.
