Social media content

Social media is a platform of marvels and wonders where you can find some form of information pertaining to almost everything. Thinking of a seal messing around with a human? Social media has you covered. Thinking of a real life Tom & Jerry situation? Well, social media has you covered. With a plethora of oddities being given a spot on social media, we look at one such instance where the digital platform provided us with some giggles, in the form of a Facebook page called I Hate Coriander.

I Hate Coriander

Social media is for one and all, and as long as you don’t indulge in anything offensive, the sky's the limit when it comes to content. You can literally post anything you want for everyone to see, and keeping that in mind, a 247000+ strong community dedicated solely to a hatred against coriander is steadily gaining momentum on Facebook. The posts on the I Hate Coriander page have received a cumulative 245000+ likes, with the slapstick and comical humour attracting many a visit to the page. (Image: Facebook/ihatecoriander)

The content

As with most other Facebook pages, I Hate Coriander posts many types of content, including photos, memes, and videos. Hatred for the vegetable can be seen in the form of a photo, which says ‘if coriander was a day, it’d be Monday’, and a meme that quotes Mother Teresa saying ‘Love everyone equally, except those who like coriander.’. Similarly, a video titled ‘This is the only correct way to prepare coriander’ shows a person cutting coriander on a cutting board, and throwing it in the dustbin. (Image: Facebook/ihatecoriander)

What else the page offers

For some reason, there seems to be a lot of coriander hating social media users, and to pander to the hatred, the page is offering merchandise. I Hate Coriander merchandise like tees, caps, tote bags, and even framed posters have all found their way in the Facebook page, and people are actually willing to part with money to buy these products. Similar pages

Similar food hating pages like I Hate Cilantro, and I Hate Pineapple On Pizza are also slowly gaining traction. These pages are relatively new, so they have fewer members, but seeing the bizarre hatred for certain foods on social media, it would be no surprise to see these pages grow into a large community.
