After Chaiwala, its the turn of Chaiwali

Unemployment can break a person’s core and when it’s an educated person looking for a job, then it shatters the dream from the heart. But, have you ever heard that unemployment gave a person the wings to fly? Well, this is what recently happened with Priyanka Gupta, who is an economics graduate from Patna Women’s College in Bihar. Starting the entrepreneurial journey

This 24-year-old girl from Patna has started her own tea stall outside her college after failing to clear the competitive exams of the bank. She studied hard for these exams, but guess luck was not in her favour. She graduated in 2019 and did her complete hard work to clear those exams. But, she did not lose her hope and instead started on an entrepreneurial journey of opening a tea stall. (Image courtesy: ANI)

The story of Chaiwali

Her story came to light when ANI interviewed her for being a ‘chaiwali’, as people are still not comfortable with working girls/women in these such areas. In her interview with ANI, Priyanka disclosed that “I started my tea stall on April 11 this year. After graduating in 2019, I was unable to get a job in the last 2 yrs. So, I took inspiration from Prafull Billore who had started his venture MBA Chaiwala. I thought when there are many chaiwallahs, why can't there be a chaiwali?” (Image courtesy: iStock)

The Atma Nirbharta

Her shop Chaiwali serves four innovative styles of tea, including Paan tea and Chocolate tea. The sign outside her shop says, ‘Initiative towards Aatma Nirbhar Bharat. Soch mat, chalu kar de bas (Don’t think about it, just begin)’. (Images courtesy: iStock)

How did she do it?

For Priyanka, starting the tea stall wasn't an easy task. She had to run from pillar to pillar to get a loan. Finally, a friend of hers gave her a loan of Rs 30,000. “After my friend helped me financially, I bought a tea stall and other materials for all Rs 12,500 and then started a tea shop near Patna Women’s College from April 11 and the rest is history,’ she told a publication.
