These foods may prevent sore throat caused due to smog
As the air quality in Delhi NCR depletes, there has been an increase in the cases of respiratory congestion, cold cough and sore throat. Excessive pollution can lead to discomfort and inflammation in the throat, which can be healed by inducing warm drinks and foods that have warm potency and can help in reducing pain and discomfort caused due to smog. Here are some common foods.
Herbal Teas: Hot herbal teas can be incredibly soothing for a sore throat. Try varieties like chamomile, ginger, peppermint, or licorice root. These teas are not only warm but can also have anti-inflammatory properties to help ease throat discomfort.
Warm Broth-based Soups: Soups, particularly clear broths like chicken or vegetable broth, can provide hydration and warmth to your throat. They also deliver essential nutrients and can help alleviate discomfort.
Hot Honey and Lemon Water: A classic remedy, hot water with a dash of honey and a squeeze of lemon can provide relief. Honey has natural antibacterial properties and can coat the throat, while lemon adds a dose of vitamin C.
Oatmeal or Porridge: Warm, soft foods like oatmeal or rice porridge can be gentle on a sore throat. They are easy to swallow and provide comforting nourishment.
Turmeric Milk (Golden Milk): Turmeric has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties. Combine warm milk with a pinch of turmeric, a dash of black pepper, and a touch of honey for a soothing and healing drink.
Things to keep in mind:
Remember to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of warm water throughout the day. Additionally, try to avoid exposure to smog and pollutants by staying indoors when air quality is poor and using air purifiers if possible. If your sore throat persists or worsens, consult a healthcare professional for guidance and treatment.
