Dean Winchester's Apple Pie recipe

Jensen Ackles is a popular American actor, producer & director who needs no introduction. From having played the role of Batman in the movie ‘Batman: The Long Halloween’ to the long-running American drama series ‘Supernatural’, his fans love him for the characters he has played. Talking about his characters, Dean Winchester is the one that’s unforgettable and who always craves good food and beer. Of all the foods he loves, pizza and pie are something that he cannot do without! So, today, we will be sharing the recipe of how one can make an Apple Pie at home. 2/9

Ingredients required

6-8 apples, 2 pie dough (chilled in refrigerator), 1 tbsp brandy, 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, 2-3 pinches nutmeg powder, 1/4 tsp allspice, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 150 gms sugar, 4 tbsp all-purpose flour, 2 tbsp cream, 1 egg yolk.

3/9

Step 1

To make this delicious apple pie recipe, peel the apples. Remove the core and roughly chop them into chunks in a large bowl. This process of chopping has to be done quickly as the apples turn brown. Once done, add apple cider vinegar into the bowl and mix well.

4/9

Step 2

To make the pie filling, take a bowl and mix together all the spices along with flour and sugar. When your filling is ready, add it to the flour-mix bowl mix once again to coat them nicely and evenly. Now, add the vanilla extract along with brandy to the apples and stir nicely. Your pie mixture is ready.

5/9

Step 3

Now, depending on your oven type, place two racks inside it to ensure no drippings are wasted and line the lower one with a baking sheet. Now, preheat the oven to 190 degrees C. While the oven is heating, take out the pie dough from the fridge and let it sit for 5-10 minutes at room temperature.

6/9

Step 4

Now, take the dough and dust some flour on the flat surface. Take a rolling pin and roll the dough into a 12-inch circle. Make sure that it is neither too thick nor too thin, and add some flour to make sure that it doesn’t stick to the bottom. Now, take this rolled-out dough and put it on a 9-inch pie plate and press down so that the plate is covered from all places. This will form the crust of the pie.

7/9

Step 5

Now, we will start placing the filling in the centre of the pie crust and fill it completely. Once you arranged all the coated apples in the crust, now it’s time to roll out the cover of the crust. Take the other dough and roll it in the same manner as that of the previous one and gently place it over the apple-filled pie plate. Once done, trim all the edges and make sure that they are clean. Once done, fold the sheet under itself so that the edge of the fold comes right to the edge of the pan. Use your thumb to flute those edges and then press with a fork.

8/9

Step 6

Prepare the egg wash by whisking together cream and egg yolk together. Once combined, take a pastry brush and brush the pie with this egg wash thoroughly. Make sure space is left from it. Then, use a sharp knife to cut in the centre of the pie crust at the top for cooking it from the inside.

9/9

Step 7

Place this prepared uncooked pie over the baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes at 190 degrees C and then lower the temperature to 175 degrees C and bake for 45-60 minutes. After the pie is baked, keep it for cooling for 60-70 minutes. And when it is cool enough, serve it with a side of vanilla ice cream and enjoy.
