In a democratic setup like India, where everyone has the right to live life as he/she wishes, being judged for food choices is the most bizarre thing. Recently, Infosys Foundation Chairperson Sudha Murty became the talk of the town as she openly talked about her food habits, choices, and the idea of being a vegetarian in an interview.

In an interview with actor and food critic Kunal Vijjaykar for an episode of "Khaane Mein Kaun Hai", she talked about her idea of being a vegetarian and also mentioned that she carries her food and cooking items whenever she travels abroad. Explaining the reason behind the practice, she said that her concern is the possibility of using the same crockery, spoon, and spatula for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.

She confessed, "If there is no one at home, I won't go to a hotel to eat. I know basic cooking-rice, dal, sambar, parotta, sabzi. But I won't know how to make Puran Poli or such items. At home, there is simple cooking."

She also mentioned that when she is abroad, she only searches for vegetarian restaurants. She even carries her bag of food. She further added, "I make 25–30 chapattis. I fry sooji or rava and make it ready to eat. I only have to add warm water to the mix. I take poha. I take a cooking bag with a small cooker."

Supporting her approach to food, a user wrote, "It is unfair to judge Sudha Murthy's caste based on her personal choices. She carries her own food and doesn't eat garlic, but that doesn't make her weird or casteist. These are her personal choices, and we should respect them."
