Centipede found in Vada Pav!

'Let food be thy medicine’. We are often asked to swear by these words of wisdom, but what will you do if the food is full of centipede? Don’t be surprised, because recently a social media video went viral when a centipede was found inside a Vada Pav at a fast food outlet in Surat. According to sources, a customer who had purchased Vada Pav from Vaishali Vada Pav centre at Rustompura had found a dead centipede inside the vada and made the video. As soon as he shared the video and it went viral, the Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) health department came into action and this is all happened.

The investigation

As soon as the video went viral, the team of SMC raided the shop and sealed it for an indefinite period. If reports are to be believed, the owner has been fined for Rs 25,000 for the carelessness and unhygienic condition. Also, samples collected from the shop have been sent for laboratory testing.

What’s more?

In a statement, SMC has said that they have received instructions from the higher authorities to check all the fast food stalls and shops in the central zone of the city for clean and hygienic food. And SMC officials have been asked to carry out surprise inspections at fast food joints across the city.
5/5

Bottomline

This is one of the instances where the carelessness on part of the vendor has been highlighted. It is an alarming sign for us to be careful about what we eat and where we eat, keeping the hygiene and health in mind. In case you come across something unhygienic at any eating joint, raise a voice, after all ‘Health is Wealth’.
