Sawan 2025: Easy homemade vrat recipes to try at home
The holy month of Sawan is going on and it is time to immerse your soul in devotion to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Interestingly, this year Sawan will be followed for two months and if you too are fasting this Sawan, then here are some super simple vrat recipes that are worth trying.
Singhare Atta Cheela
Craving for a hearty meal after the whole day of fasting, then try this easy Cheela made with the goodness of Singhare ka atta combined with grated bottle gourd, green chili, and coriander leaves and water. Add ghee to a pan and pour a ladle full of the batter, cook the Cheela by flipping sides and enjoy.
Sweet Potato Chaat
To make this hearty recipe, par boil the sweet potato and cut them into chunks. Meanwhile, take a bowl of hung curd, whisk it well with a roasted cumin powder, grated ginger, coriander leaves and a dash of sugar. Meanwhile, pan fry the potato chunks in ghee, pour the curd batter, garnish the way you like and enjoy.
Beetroot Salad
This delicious vrat salad can be made by cleaning and chopping beetroots and cucumber. Meanwhile, take 2-3 tbsp lemon juice, chopped green chilies, coriander leaves, roasted cumin powder, black pepper and pour this over the veggies. Toss and enjoy.
Kuttu Dosa
Kuttu ka Dosa is a classic vrat delicacy prepared by combining kuttu ka atta, grated bottle gourd, chopped green chili, and spinach leaves along with some water to make a batter. Cook the dosa with ghee and serve hot with either vrat wale aloo or vrat ki chutney.
Lauki Raita
Lauki Raita is a delicious and refreshing Bottle gourd recipe, which can be made by garting and squeezing out grated bottle gourd. Then combine it with fresh curd, a pinch of cumin powder and red chili powder, chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
Vrat Ke Aloo
This delicious vrat delicacy can be made by cooking boiled potatoes in ghee along with some grated ginger, tomato paste, green chilies and chopped coriander leaves. Cook the potatoes, add water/curd and adjust the consistency of the curry and enjoy with vrat wali puri or samvat rice.
Vrat Fruit Salad
To make this healthy and tasty salad, take fruits of your choice and chop them and keep aside. Meanwhile, take low fat chilled fresh cream, whisk well with powdered sugar or honey. Add in the fruits and mix it well and serve chilled.
Coconut Ladoo
These healthy and tasty ladoos can be made by combining desiccated coconut, condensed milk, and cardamom powder. Mix it well and then add in nuts and make small laddoos and enjoy anytime.
