Robot waiters in India!

We all know that change is the only constant and when it comes to food, change is happening every now and then. From cuisine to modes of cooking, everything has changed and the latest change that social media is gushing over is the introduction of ‘Robots’ as waiters. Though the trend started in Japan way back, recently a restaurant in Karnataka introduced the concept of the robot-themed restaurant, but the owners had to stop the services soon. Read to know why.

Located in Shivamogga’s Darshani Hotel, this restaurant has robot waiters that greet the guests and then take the order and deliver on the respective table too.

According to sources, the restaurant owners had to stop the service because of the crowd. As soon as the local people got to know about the unique feature of the restaurant, they started rushing to the restaurant and at last the owners had to stop the service.

Trend in India

The Chennai-based ‘Robot’ restaurant is known for introducing the trend in India. Formerly known as MOMO, the restaurant is founded by Venkatesh Rajendran and Karthik Kannan. With the introduction of 4 robot waiters, the owners had relaunched the restaurant to attract the audience.

According to hospitality industry experts, restaurants are no more just about food. The ambience and experience matter a lot and such trends easily attract customers for gaining unique experiences.

The video circulated on social media shows how the robot waiter carries the food in the fixed tray and delivers to the respective table. This actually explains how efficiency and novelty find synergy in the use of robots and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The trend

The trend of robots in the food industry is not new, before this, in 2016, The Huis Ten Bosch amusement park in Nagasaki, Japan introduced robot chefs. Funded by the Japanese government, the trial project was an experimental venture to decide which all areas of the food world is best suited for automation.
