Restaurant caught storing meat with vegetarian food and stale paneer in this city
Dining out is an experience, where you step out of the comfort and hygiene zone to enjoy a meal with your loved ones. What if the experience turns out to be a nightmare where you get to know that the restaurant has failed in storing vegetarian and non-vegetarian food separately. Well, it recently happened in Pink City. Scroll down to find the details.
A video shared by content creator Urvashi Agarwal on Instagram has sparked concerns over food safety at a popular eatery in Jaipur, Rajasthan, in which a food inspection conducted by Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officer Pankaj Ojha is shown where he is heard questioning the storage practices at the restaurant, saying, “How many days old is this stored in the freezer? This is an alarming situation.” He further pointed out that raw meat was stored alongside vegetarian food items, including gravy, raising questions about discrediting religious sentiments. He added, “Aam janta ki aastha ke saath isse bada khilwar nahi ho sakta.”
In the same viral video, he can be seen inspecting a piece of paneer visibly stored in dirty water, which he described as “stinking.”
The caption of the video posted by Agarwal reads, “Food Safety Officers Rajasthan inspected Up & Up, The Musical Terrace and found major food and safety violations.” Take a look at the video.
The video has once again put a question mark on how far dining out is safe, clean, and healthy. The video is flooded with comments, where a user has asked, “Why can’t we have open-camera kitchens to see how our food is being prepared?”
What happens when you store such things together?
Storing paneer with meat can lead to cross-contamination, especially if the meat is raw. Harmful bacteria from meat, such as Salmonella or E. coli, can transfer to paneer, increasing the risk of foodborne illnesses. Additionally, paneer can absorb odors from meat, altering its taste. Always store them separately in sealed containers to maintain safety and preserve flavors.
