Here’s what Queen Elizabeth’s eats daily to stay fit at the age of 96

The charming beauty and elegance of Queen Elizabeth is an inspiration for many generations. There’s no denying that the queen has gracefully aged and recently she celebrated her 96th birthday. While the world is amazed at her fitness even at the age of 96, here’s a glimpse of ‘what she eats daily’ and her food secrets.

A sneak peak into Queen’s diet

While the oldest monarch has always been popular for her royal and exquisite choices in terms of attire, foods and even cocktails, an interesting revelation was made by one of her personal chefs Darren McGrady in his book “Eating Royally: Recipes and Remembrances from a Palace Kitchen”. As per his book, Queen was presented a menu by her 20 chefs from there she chooses her daily meals. Here’s what she eats daily to stay fit.

A healthy start

While the world starts their day with a punch of caffeine, the Queen and her choices too boast of the royalty. She begins her day with a warm cup of hot Earl Grey tea with milk, no sugar, and a few biscuits.

As per an article published in the Hello magazine, it was mentioned that Queen Elizabeth relishes her tea with Chocolate Bath Olivers which are crunchy cookies coated in chocolate.

Breakfast

Post relishing her tea and pre-breakfast treats, she takes a bath, dresses up in her royal attire and proceeds for her royal breakfast, which is believed to include cold cereal and sometimes toasts and marmalade. Eggs are rarely on the menu.

Lunch

In a report published in a digital portal Eat this, not that, it was mentioned that Queen’s personal chef, McGrady once shared in an interview with The Telegraph that she prefers a simple high-protein, low-carb meal. Her royal lunch includes grilled Dover sole or Scottish salmon served with spinach and zucchini. It is believed to be one of her favourites, she also loves simple salads with grilled chicken. In fact, McGrady shared "No starch is the rule" of her lunch.

6/9

Afternoon Tea

The Queen loves her afternoon tea. According to a story published in the Cosmopolitan, afternoon tea is a lavish affair, which includes cucumber sandwiches, fruit cake and Earl Grey tea on the menu.

7/9

Dinner

She is very disciplined and she prefers ‘no starch’ when she is dining alone. Her dinner includes grilled or poached fish with salad and vegetables, according to McGrady. He once shared in an interview "She's very disciplined like that. She could have anything she wanted, but it is that discipline that keeps her so well and so healthy."

8/9

Dessert

In an interview with McGrady, he shared that Queen is a ‘little bit of a chocoholic’. Fresh fruits from the gardens like strawberries from Balmoral Castle or fresh peaches from Windsor Castle greenhouses are often served to the lady. He added that "it has to be the dark chocolate, the darker the better. She wasn't keen on milk chocolate or white chocolate." Lastly, she loves indulging in homemade chocolate dessert and chocolate biscuit cakes.

The strict No in her daily diet

One thing that the Queen dislikes is garlic and thus anything with garlic. Also she prefers steak properly cooked, especially her beef steaks are always roasted well and she prefers eating the last slices.

Last but not the least, the Queen has never ordered fast food in the past 20 years, that’s what keeps her so alive and agile at this age.
