Maggi in breakfast, lunch & dinner can lead to divorce

In what may be described as a freak case, a couple ended their marriage on account of our favourite fast food-Maggi! Sounds unbelievable? Justice M L Raghunath recently revealed to a leading daily about the 'Maggi Case' where the husband asked for a divorce due to her wife's inability to cook food, and while she just knew how to make 'Maggi Noodles'. This has definitely left us all speechless. Read the full report below: (Images courtesy: Istock)

The Maggi case

Justice Raghunath revealed that "The husband said his wife did not know how to prepare any food other than Maggi noodles. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all noodle-centric. The husband complained that his wife had gone to the store and returned with only instant noodles. Raghunath dubbed the case as the 'Maggi case,' claiming the couple eventually divorced by mutual consent." He further said that this case came up when he was the district judge in Bellari, Karnataka.

Divorce over petty issues

Justice Raghunath also revealed that many such petty cases came to him when he was in the sessions court of Mysuru. He said that many times we receive petitions of couples where the wife may have put some extra salt in the food. One of the cases came to him from a wife who claimed that the groom didn't get the colour of the suit right. Straightening the record for young married couples Justice Raghunath said that "A couple has to stay together for a year before filing for a divorce Case" and if there were no such laws then there would have been instances where the divorce petitions would be filed directly from the wedding hall.

Food causing divorces

Earlier, a Telangana man dialled the hotline number '100' repeatedly while in the drunk state and complained about his wife who wasn't ready to cook 'Mutton Curry' for him. However, the police intervened and registered a case of nuisance against the same man for misusing the hotline.
