Are air fryers really healthy?

Cooking was never so easy as in our times. It is less messy and less time-consuming. Gone are those days when people used to devote 2-3 hours in the kitchen to prepare something delicious. Now, we have automated kitchen appliances to make our work simpler and hassle-free. Air fryer is one such appliance which is quite famous among the millennials. It is quite expensive but useful too. Scroll down to know if it is worth spending on an air fryer.

2/8

How it works

An air fryer is an appliance that is basically a counter top oven that uses convection mechanism to cook the food. It has a fan attached to it which circulates the hot air inside it. This hot air cooks the food which is kept in its fryer basket and gives it a crispy texture. It uses little or no oil to prepare the food.

3/8

What makes it unique

An air fryer might look like the tweaked version of a convection oven in which people generally bake several dishes, however, there are various uses of it that you would not be knowing about! Apart from making dishes healthier, an air fryer can shorten the cooking time period of several foods while giving them a market like crispiness such as potato chips.

4/8

Uses

By now, you might have understood that an air fryer is one of the best kitchen gadgets of its time and it can make healthy foods that most of us desire to make at home. From your favourite Chicken Wings and French Fries to Roasted Vegetables and Doughnuts, you can practically make anything that you want without having to eat those extra calories. Also, you can also prepare your favourite Indian snacks like samosa, mathri, vada pav, tandoori chicken and what not! You can do a lot of experiments with this luxurious appliance.

5/8

Pros

Most people avoid deep fried foods due to the amount of oil used to prepare them. But, an air fryer uses a little amount of oil making the food. You can either use the oil spray or coat the food using a brush.

The food made in an air fryer contains fewer calories than the deep fried food.

It is easy to use and efficient as they can shorten the cooking time of some dishes.

6/8

Cons

Airfryer is quite expensive.

Taste of deep-fried foods and the ones cooked in an air fryer is not the same

It is not suitable for a large group of family as it has less space.

7/8

Things to keep in mind

Always preheat the air fryer before using it.

Do not overcrowd the fryer basket.

Clean the air fryer frequently by removing its tray and pans. Soak them in soapy water and gently scrub them to get rid of the stickiness.

8/8

Verdict

If you are one of those who like to have fried foods, then we would recommend you to buy an air fryer. It is a slick appliance and it makes the food healthier than deep frying it.

One should keep in mind the amount of usage, health, safety, and financial aspects before buying an air fryer.

But if you don’t like to have such foods more often, then you can skip buying it.
