The research
Researchers from the University of Greenwich conducted a total of 18 studies on more than 400 people and found that consuming two pints of beer could decrease pain by up to 25%.
How the pain is reduced
The researchers said, “Findings suggest that alcohol is an effective analgesic that delivers clinically-relevant reductions in ratings of pain intensity, which could explain alcohol misuse in those with persistent pain, despite its potential consequences for long-term health.”

Drinking beer in moderate quantity serves two purposes, firstly it elevates the blood alcohol level by 0.08 percent and secondly, it gives your body the threshold to bear the pain by lowering the intensity of pain.
Beer is more powerful than paracetamol
Dr. Trevor Thompson, who led the study at London’s Greenwich University, added “We have found strong evidence that alcohol is an effective painkiller. It can be compared to opioid drugs such as codeine and the effect is more powerful than paracetamol."
