How Sundar Pichai's Indian roots define his breakfast

Global leaders are often looked upon as a source of inspiration and their ideologies and daily routines are considered a guiding force for many youths. One of the global leaders who inspires youths with his perspective and ideologies is Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google. While we have all read his inspirational quotes and listened to his code of business, did you know that he is also a man of discipline? He wakes up between 6:30–7:00 am and in the age of e-papers, prefers to begin his day with a physical newspaper. In an interview with Kara Swisher (On with Kara Swisher) he once mentioned that he prefers to have a slow morning where he reads 3-4 newspapers. Being a vegetarian, he makes sure to start his day with a good source of protein. He said "I am a vegetarian, so I need to get my protein, and that's the reason I begin my day with...." Sundar Pichai's breakfast routine

According to the interview, he loves to begin his day with 2-3 newspapers, chai (tea), an omelette, and toast. In the video interview, he said, "I grew up in India, so for me my morning chai, which is very English is important and as I am vegetarian, I need to get my protein, hence I take omelette with toast." For Sundar, his day begins with The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times and a couple of more newspapers. He says that he is not a morning person and his workout and fitness schedule is mostly for evening hours. For Sundar, fitness is crucial, but due to his packed schedules he prefers to dedicate evening hours for workout over morning time. According to Sundar Pichai, his mornings are incomplete without reading newspapers and that's why he prefers to have the right beginning of the day with best of national dailies.

Tea

Tea or chai in India is a seamless melange of water, milk, sugar, and tea leaves, along with herbs and spices like cardamom and black pepper. The process begins with boiling the water with tea leaves in a saucepan, to which milk and spices are added and allowed to brew for 5-10 minutes. Lastly, sugar is added and the concoction is boiled until the colour darkens, then it is strained and served in a cup and saucer. In India, apart from milk tea, people also enjoy floral and clear teas made with different leaves. The range of herbal teas include-blue pea, chamomile, earl gray, rooibos, oolong and more. These teas are said to help calm the senses and aid better sleep cycle. The best thing about herbal tea is, it also keeps the blood sugar and blood pressure under control. Also, it is very easy to make. If you are someone who is not into caffeine, then floral teas are the best way to add tea ritual in your daily routine to keep the senses calm.

Omelette


Eggs are a rich source of protein and make for the perfect ingredient to create the simple and versatile dish called an omelette. Omelette is made by beating eggs and cooking them in a pan, often with a variety of filling. Traditionally, an omelette typically consists of eggs whisked with a pinch of salt and sometimes pepper, then poured into a hot, lightly greased pan. As the egg mixture sets, ingredients like onions, tomatoes, green chilies, cheese and herbs are added. Once everything is cooked evenly, it is folded or rolled before serving. The most common varieties of omelettes are plain, masala, cheese, and vegetable. Over a period of time, this dish has also made through innovations and is now served layered with cheese and other seasonal produces like olives and lettuce, which makes it even more tastier and healthier. When it comes to cheese omelette, it makes for an addictive deal, where the use of ingredients like spinach and olives add to the taste and texture of this high-protein dish that is loved by all.

Toast

Toast is one of the simplest and most widely enjoyed breakfast foods, made by browning slices of bread using a toaster, pan, or open flame. One can simply use white bread, milk bread, multi-grain bread or sourdough bread for it. The process begins by placing the bread slices on a preheated tawa or a toaster and heating them until the slice turns golden brown and crisp. It can be eaten plain or topped with a variety of spreads and ingredients. The most common variations are butter toast, jam toast, avocado toast, omelette toast, cheese toast, and masala toast. Toast also makes for a very comforting school tiffin meal for kids that can be clubbed with chips and juice too. It is also a comforting food one can pack for picnics too.
