Follow this easy plan for 7-Day detox

Detoxifying the body is absolutely necessary every now and then, just to keep your gut healthy. The festive season has just come to an end and we have gorged on tons of sweets and dishes this month, without worrying about the calories. Well, if you too are planning to get back on track, here is a 7-day detox plan for you.

2/8

Day 1

Start your day by drinking a warm glass of water with half lemon squeezed in it. You can also add a teaspoon of honey. After that go for a walk, jog or engage in some kind of workout for 30 minute.

Breakfast- Now it is time for your breakfast drink which is made by blending some carrots, spinach, coriander and mint. Add a dash of lime juice, black salt and pepper for added taste.

Lunch- In lunch, go for steamed veggies which are in season. Opt for spinach, mushrooms, carrots, cabbage and capsicums. You can also mix them together along with some onion and garlic.

Dinner- You can end the day by preparing any vegetable soup for yourself for dinner. Avoid adding excess cream or cornflour to the soup.

3/8

Day 2

Start your day by sipping a herbal tea of your choice, followed by 30 minutes of exercise.

For breakfast, have a bowl of yogurt and top it with some fruits, chia seeds and walnuts. A teaspoon of honey can also be drizzled to add sweetness.

For lunch, make a bowl quinoa for yourself, along with some seasonal veggies of your choice. Quinoa is full of fibre and will keep you full for long.

For dinner, either opt for a vegetable soup or stir-fry onions, capsicum, garlic and cauliflower in just a cube of butter.

4/8

Day 3

Start your day by drinking a glass of warm lemon water, followed by walking, jogging or skipping.

For the breakfast drink, make a juice by blending carrots, oranges and beetroot together. You can also have a small bowl of poha, upma or oats if you feel hungry even after the juice.

In lunch, you can have a bowl full of dal, along with a bowl of salad. Skip chapatis or rice while on the detox.

For dinner, sauteed grated raw papaya, carrot and some lettuce. Mix together, add lime juice and enjoy the healthy vegetable salad.

5/8

Day 4

Follow the same routine of drinking either lemon water or herbal tea in morning, followed by exercise.

In breakfast, make a banana smoothie by blending banana with either coconut milk or yogurt. In lunch you can easily go for a bowl of dal or sabzi along with curd. In dinner make a small besan or moong dal chilla, topped with veggies of your choice.

6/8

Day 5

For Day 5, start going in reverse and follow the exact same diet which you took on Day 3. If you feel hunger pangs kicking in during mid day or evening, it is completely fine to eat some snacks. Make sure you only eat healthy snacks, as they will further help in detox. Go for energy bars, roasted dry fruits, fruit chaat and even sprouts.

7/8

Day 6

Similarly, for Day 6 follow the diet plan given for Day 2. Make sure you keep this in mind that detox doesn’t mean starving yourself. You need to keep having food at regular intervals, otherwise your metabolism will slow down. The best way to keep hunger pangs at bay is by consuming different kinds of liquids. Fruit juices, soups, stews and even coconut water helps in detoxifying your body and keep your metabolism active.

8/8

Day 7

Lastly, for Day 7 follow the plan which you did on Day 1. This is the last day of detox, so make sure you follow it religiously till the last meal. Ending the detox does not mean that you can start eating fried and sugary foods from the very next day. If you correctly follow the 7-Day detox, you are actually prepping your body. You can easily resort to your usual diet, but make sure you keep drinking the early morning drink along with some physical workout. Plan days in advance and reserve your cheat days for sugary and fried foods. As the famous saying goes ‘Excess of everything is bad’, make sure to practice everything in moderation.
