Sachin Tendulkar's love for food
Sachin Tendulkar is known for his love for food. The Master Blaster of Indian cricket often shares his food moments on his official Instagram account. He has also talked about his love affari with regional Maharashtrian foods in many interviews. Ahead of his son's wedding, we are expecting that the celebratory menu will surely feature some of his favourites too. Here's a glimpse of what the God of Indian cricket loves to eat regularly.
Pumpkin Chicken Curry
On a trip to Meghalaya in 2025, he enjoyed Pumpkin Chicken Curry (Do’o Gominda), a Garo delicacy, prepared by Meghalaya chef Nambie Marak. He loved it so much that he even asked for a second serving. This curry is made with boneless chicken along with yellow curry powder, garam masala, ginger, brown sugar, salt, onion, garlic, coconut milk, and pumpkin puree.
Baigan Ka Bharta
This is a side dish made with roasted and mashed eggplant, seasoned with mustard oil, salt, chilli, pepper, garlic, lemon juice, and coriander leaves. As per Sachin's post, this side dish is loved by him and his mother and he once made it for her on Mother's Day as well.
Vada Pav
In many interviews he has mentioned his love for Mumbai's favourite Vada Pav. It consists of a pav, which is slit from the centre and is stuffed with dried garlic chutney and spicy deep-fried potato patty and is served with chutneys and fried green chillies.
Jumbo Prawn Curry
As per reports, he is a true seafood lover and when it comes to his favourite, it has to be Jumbo Prawn Curry, a sweet and sour curry prepared with coconut milk.
Mutton Biryani
He is a rice eater who loves his aromatic Mutton Biryani a lot. It is made with fragrant basmati rice, cooked along with partially cooked marinated mutton that uses special biryani masala.
Puran Poli
For Sachin, this is not jist a dish,but an emotion that wraps his childhood in a plate. It is a traditional Maharashtrian sweet flatbread, stuffed with jaggery and chana dal, is often prepared during festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi. To make this, you need to cook chana dal in cooker with water, turmeric and jaggery and make it into a stuffing, next, add it to flour dough, roll out parathas and cook on a tawa using ghee or oil.
Curd Rice
As a true rice fan, he also enjoys South Indian curd rice, as his go-to comfort dish. It is made by mixing leftvoer rice to curd and is served with a tadka of oil, mustard seeds, curry leaves, and green chilli. It also includes roasted peanuts for the added crunch.
Modak
This Maharashtrian dish is also close to Sachin's hert and refers to a dumpling-like treat made with rice flour and stuffed with jaggery and coconut is a favorite during Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
Bharli Vangi
It is a traditonal Maharashtrian dish, where tender bay eggplants are stuffed with a savory, spicy, and slightly tangy mixture of peanuts, coconut, onion, and aromatic spices and is pan-fried until crisp. It is best served with bhakri or roti.
Varan Bhaat
It is a staple comfort food from Maharashtra, which includes soft-cooked toor dal and is served over steamed rice will a dollop of ghee.
