Dubai is that one place on this planet that’s epitome of luxury and opulence, so much so that everything is like a spell of exquisiteness, and recently Dubai was awarded an accolade by the Guinness Book of World Records, for retailing the most expensive cup of coffee in the world, which is priced at $680(2500 AED) and Rs. 60,368 as per Indian currency. This voguish cuppa of joe served by a popular coffee chain--Roasters Coffee took the love for coffee to the next level by winning an accolade by the Guinness Book of World Records for its whopping price and use of the rare Panama Esmeralda Geisha coffee beans that give this coffee that taste, flavour and richness of luxury in every sip.

What’s special about this coffee?

Much like other coffee blends, the key to its luxury lies in the taste, richness and flavour of this rare-to-find Panama Esmeralda Geisha coffee beans. These beans are not just rare, but are also known for their unique high-altitude cultivation, which gives these beans a unique taste and flavour. The plantations of these coffee beans are located at the Boquete Valley of Panama, which is specifically known as the Hacienda La Esmeralda estate. What’s more these beans were and are prized for their extraordinary flavor profile and unique cultivation process.

All about these rare beans


The Geisha variety of coffee beans originally hails from Ethiopia in Panama's volcanic soil and it is one of the highest altitude (1,200 to 1,800 meters) cultivation of coffee all around the world, which gives this coffee bean an intense flavour and an enchanting aroma.

The beans are carefully hand-picked at peak ripeness to select only the best cherries.

The taste and flavour

Panama Esmeralda Geisha coffee is loved for its enticing flavour, intense taste and aroma, which has subtle notes of floral aromas like jasmine, honeysuckle, and bergamot, along with sweet fruity notes of tropical fruit, peach. Another thing that makes this coffee so expensive is the way of cultivation, which involves handpicking and selecting the perfect beans followed by washing and wet-processing to preserve their delicate fruity and floral notes. The coffee estate uses organic and sustainable farming practices to maintain environmental balance, this is why only a small quantity is produced. However, this coffee is available in microlots with different grades.
