Dev Uthani Ekadashi 2023: Date, Significance, foods used in puja and what to make on this day
Dev Uthani Ekadashi is one of the most important Ekadashis among the 24 Ekadashis. This day is completely dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu. As per Hindu panchang, Dev Uthani Ekadashi is celebrated every year on the Ekadashi tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. The day of Dev Uthani Ekadashi is dedicated to Shri Hari Vishnu. On this day, the sustainer of the world, Shri Hari Vishnu wakes up from his four months of yoga nidra (sleep). Once he is awakened, only then any auspicious or new work start, such as weddings. This Ekadashi is also considered very good to please Lord Vishnu and seek his blessings. On this day, some people observe fast and worship to please Lord Vishnu. By worshipping Lord Vishnu with true faith and devotion on this day, all the wishes are fulfilled.

Importance of Dev Uthani Ekadashi
Dev Uthani Ekadashi is considered one of the most important and sacred Ekadashis in Hinduism. On this auspicious day, it is said that Lord Vishnu wakes up after four months of deep sleep or meditation, which is known as Chaturmas. Also, all the auspicious works will start from this day itself.Foods used in Dev Uthani Ekadashi
On this day, people wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath. After waking up, they perform Tulsi Vivah, and later in the evening make the idol of Lord Vishnu using geru (lal) mitti and offer foods like sugarcane, white radish, water chestnuts, sweet potatoes, spinach under a sieve (popularly known as channi). A diya is lit under the channi along with some sweets. Though, some people make homemade vermicelli or jawein on this dish day, and offer it to Lord Vishnu. In some cultures, Chawal ki Kheer or Sooji Halwa is made and offered as sweet to please Lord Vishnu. Once he is awakened, these foods are either used for prepared the food or given to the girl of the house.As this is an important occasion for the northern India, many people prepare pakwan like Poori, Sabji and Halwa to celebrate this dish day with their loved ones.
