Celebrate Teej with these easy immunity boosting ladoos

It’s that time of year, when the exuberance of festivity is in the air. Teej is around the corner and preparations are in full swing. Right from preparing sweets to snacks to buying new clothes and bangles, the festive fervour has begun!

Unfortunately, this year things are different, the happiness of the festival is masked behind the harshness of the deadly coronavirus pandemic. Not only has this pandemic changed the dynamics of our lives, but at the same time it has made us realise the worth of healthy living and a strong immune system more-than-ever!

So, why not give your celebrations a dose of good health by ditching the traditional ladoos and preparing these easy-to-make homemade immunity boosting ladoos.

​Sesame Jaggery Ladoos

To make this easy ladoo recipe, you just need some jaggery, white sesame (white til) and some cardamom powder. Both jaggery and sesame are great for boosting immunity naturally. Jaggery is packed with the goodness of protein, iron, calcium, vitamins and minerals, whereas sesame is a good source of zinc, selenium, copper, vitamin B6,which helps in strengthening immunity and gives the body ample resistance to fight cold, cough and seasonal ailments.

To make this easy ladoo, take 200 grams jaggery, 150 grams white sesame. 1 tablespoon ghee, 1 teaspoon cardamom powder.

Ghee roast the sesame seeds and keep aside. Then melt the jaggery you can drizzle a little water, but make sure the consistency is thick, add in the roasted sesame seeds along with cardamom powder. Allow the mixture to cool down and make small laddoos and relish!

​Dates Ginger Ladoos

Yes, this combination might seem strange but it will actually give your body the much needed warmth to stay fit during the monsoon season. Almonds are rich in omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin E, whereas dates are rich in iron and fiber, dates are not only sweet and delicious but at the same time can work miraculously to build a strong immune system.

To make this easy ladoo, you need 1 ½ cup pitted dates, ½ cup ginger, 1 tablespoon ghee, cardamom powder, turmeric and 1 cup crushed almonds.


To make this recipe: Just crush the roasted almonds and keep aside. Then deseed the dates and blend them into a smooth paste, you can drizzle some water to give the blend a smooth and thick consistency.


Then take a pan over medium flame, add in the ghee and grated ginger, saute for a minute, then add in the dates blend and cardamom powder, a dash of turmeric powder. Keep stirring until the mixture turns thick. Turn off the flame and add the crushed almonds. Mix it well and make small ladoos and indulge in the goodness.

​Cinnamon dry fruits and ladoo

There is no denying to the fact that dry fruits are not only delicious but are also packed with the goodness of omega 3 fatty acids, fiber, concentrated vitamins and minerals, antioxidants and what not! Dry fruits and nuts have been a quintessential element of our festive delicacies. So, why not make a healthy ladoo using the same.

To make this ladoo recipe, you just need 200 grams mixed dry fruits and nuts, to bind them together, you need a sweet syrup for that take 2 cup dates blend (made by removing the seeds and blend with a little water), desiccated coconut 1 cup, 1 teaspoon cinnamon.


Take a pan, add 2 teaspoon ghee and toss the crushed dry fruits and nuts. Keep the roasted dry fruits and nuts aside. Then to the same pan add 1 teaspoon ghee, and add the dates blend, allow it to cook for sometime then add in the cinnamon powder. Then turn off the flame and add the crush dry fruits, mix them using the cut and fold method. Once the ladoo mixture is ready, spread the desiccated coconut on a plate, make the ladoos and roll over the coconut and transfer them to a serving dish. You can also serve them cold as well.
