Can almond milk go bad?

To put it simply, yes! Almond milk can go bad if it is not stored properly or under the right conditions. It doesn’t depend on whether you have made it at home or bought the milk from the store, almond milk is something that can also go bad. In the case of dairy milk, you can just smell and tell that it has gone bad or sour. But, in the case of almond milk, it becomes a little difficult to find out, whether it’s expired.

The shelf-life of almond milk

The very first thing that you must note before determining the shelf life is whether almond milk is store-bought or homemade. If it is homemade that has been made with fresh almonds then you must use it between 3-5 days at max. If the milk is stored for more than this time period, it will smell funky or sour and you will know about it easily.

In the case of store-bought almond milk, an unopened bottle can stay fine for 1-2 months depending on whether it is being kept under the right conditions. Also, when the bottle is opened, it can last between 8-10 days on the shelf.

To increase the shelf life of almond milk, always put it away in the back of your refrigerator where it is the coolest and a steady temperature.
