Which is the best morning drink?

Most of us wake up with a cup of hot tea or coffee, but do you think that is the best way to start your day? In Ayurveda practices, it is said that once you are awake, drink a glass of water always and then get ahead with your morning schedule. This cleanses your gut and helps flush out the toxins from the body. But, should this be normal water, boiled water or warm one? According to Dr Vara Yanamandra, a certified Ayurveda Practitioner and a health coach, one should always start their day with warm water as it is easier to digest and gets absorbed in our tissues quickly compared to the other morning drinks. Water is the Universal morning drink

Today, everyone is going after wheat gram juice, moringa juice, warm lemon water, karela juice, or even lauki juice. No wonder, these juices have their own benefits and are healthy too. These juices are loaded with nutrition but do not suit all people. When it comes to that one drink that suits everyone, water is the best answer and according to Ayurveda, one should always consume warm water as the first drink. Hence, it is the universal morning drink that anyone can have without thinking much about its side effects. Here are some of the other reasons why warm water is the best way to start your day.

Aids in weight loss

Did you know, that drinking a glass of warm water as the first drink of the day can help in the weight loss process as well? As per Ayurveda, warm water or ‘Ushna Jala’ makes you feel lighter. Also, drinking warm water helps improve the Kapha dosha by eliminating it from the body. Not just that, but when a person consumes warm water during the whole day, it curbs the hunger pangs and lets you eat less junk food.

Helps stabilize the Pitta Dosha

Excessive heat in a person’s body denotes the Pitta Dosha, which brings instability in the metabolism that further controls the digestive tract. Warm water can bring that stability to a person’s metabolism which further balances Pitta Dosha. When the Pitta Dosha is balanced, a person’s digestive fire is healthy, which means there is little gas and released 1-2 times a day. Thus, for controlling the Pitta Dosha, one should consider drinking a glass of warm water as a morning drink.
