Whether it is about starting a party on a delightful note or binge watching a series with friends or enjoying a mighty meaty burger, it is impossible to imagine all these moments without crispy, salty, spicy fries. While it is easy to grab a pack of frozen fries and make it at home and enjoy it anytime, but did you know that this tasty snack can also be packed with nutrients? Well, this may sound unbelievable but do you know what happens when you gorge on fries regularly? Let’s find out…

​Are there any nutrients in frozen potato fries?

This may leave you wondering, but fries are actually good for health if taken in moderation. This may seem like a bluff but making fries at home with raw potatoes can be a great idea to snack as potatoes are gluten free and rich in resistant starch, which may help in reducing insulin resistance and improve blood sugar control and gut health.

What’s more, it has only 110 calories and 26 grams of complex carbohydrates and is a good source of vitamin B-6, which is essential for the body.

However, this may not be the case with packaged fries which are laced with additives, excessive salt and spices to add on to the taste. So, if you are trying to lose weight, it is best to make it at home and avoid store-bought fries.

Why frozen fries aren’t good for snacking?


Made with a mixture of potato, gluten-rich flour, fats, additives, salt, packaged fries may seem like the easiest option to cook and enjoy anytime. But they can actually drag you one step closer to cardiac diseases due to their calorie content. This is because of the additives and saturated fat content as these fries are cooked in hydrogenated oil which adds to the calorie count and increases the risk of lifestyle disorders.

In fact, too much intake of fries can increase the LDL cholesterol levels which can increase the risk of heart diseases and stroke. As per a study, consuming excessive trans fat can increase the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease or dementia by 75%. Thus, it is best to avoid snacking on packaged fries and switch to preparing fries at home.
