Delhi-Gurgaon traffic jam

Yesterday, the Delhi-Gurugram traffic jam over protests against the amended citizenship law not only affected the office goers but school kids too. As a preventive measure, the police barricaded the over six-lane road and kept only one lane open for vehicles to pass, that too after a brief check, which resulted in a traffic jam that stretched beyond 5 km. Keeping the chaos in mind, many schools called it a day and students headed home with water bottles and biscuits.

The act of kindness

If media reports are to be believed, some schools have given water bottles and biscuits to children before they took the buses home. “They would need the snack and water if they got stuck in an hours-long traffic jam”, reports said.

Message for parents

According to a source, the private schools' administration sent across a message on WhatsApp group which read "Please come to the bus stop on time today... We are giving biscuits and water to them...".The message also had information that the buses would leave early today.

Reason behind the action

While the main reason behind early closing of school was the chaotic traffic scenario in the city, many schools took the decision as a safety measure, after a school bus was damaged when protests broke out at north-east Delhi's Seelampur early this week. Also, in a visual, a group of protesters were seen passing Modern School on Barakhamba Road in central Delhi around noon.
