According to Ayurveda, consuming these 7 foods will remove all sorts of 'poison' from your body

When it comes to the development of our country, we might have technologically advanced rapidly, but not so much our food. Packed with pesticides and chemicals, food is increasingly getting more and more unfit to consume, but unfortunately, there is no solution to the same, unless you are a farmer and grow your own vegetables, thus avoiding the adulteration. However, according to Ayurveda, the 'poison' that we consume on a daily basis, can be negated by these 7 food items (source: Dr Tanmay Goswami, MD (Ayu) )

Ghee - clarified butter

The benefits of ghee are spread far and wide, and it is known as one of the best sources of good fat. It improves digestion, skin health and eye health, boosts immunity, helps in weight management and detoxifies your body. For best results, try and extract some at home, and if that is not possible, use an organic source, and one that is pure, free from preservatives.

Madhu - Honey

According to Ayurveda, honey has a myriad of health benefits, and helps to relieve gastrointestinal tract conditions such as diarrhea associated with gastroenteritis. There are also studies to show that honey has anticonvulsant and anti-anxiety benefits, apart from being good for the throat. Go for an organic version of it, but don't over consume.

Makkhan - White butter

Close on the lines of ghee is butter, but not the store bought one (ideally). See if you can get someone to churn it for you at home using fresh milk, (the white variant) and use it as a topping for all your parathas, daals and the like. It improves your nutrient absorption, enhances immunity, and betters bone and joint health.

Sendha namak - rock salt

"Sendha namak," also known as rock salt or Himalayan pink salt, is a natural, unprocessed form of salt that is considered a healthier alternative to table salt. According to Ayurveda, it is considered a superior salt, containing 84 out of the 92 trace elements required by the body, and helps in digestion, building immunity, stress relief and respiratory issues.

Pippali - Long pepper

Pippali is an effective herb in managing cough and cold. Pippali controls cough, releases mucus, clears air passages, thus allowing the patient to breathe freely. This is because Pippali has decongestant, bronchodilator and expectorant effects due to its Kapha balancing properties. Ayurveda says that one should consume Pippali daily in a small quantity.

Sonth - dry ginger

Well known for its anti-inflammatory properties, sonth or dry ginger powder also aids in digestion, improves cough and cold, can help with joint pain, and improves metabolism. Use it in small quantities everyday in your kitchen. You can use it raw as well, with warm water to improve flu symptoms. However, if you live in a hot and humid climate, go easy on its consumption.

Kaali mirch - black pepper

Apart from being a flavorful seasoning for your salads, soups and pastas, black pepper also has a host of health benefits. It is high in antioxidants, has anti-inflammatory properties, may improve blood sugar, lower cholesterol levels, and might even help fight cancer. For best use, use the whole version, roasted, rather than in the powder form.
