When it comes to South Indian dishes, rice is one of the key heroes and is celebrated in many ways. Here we have listed nine rice dishes that make for wholesome and comforting breakfast choices. Take a look.

It is one of the most famous South Indian rice dishes made with fermented rice and urad dal batter, which are steamed and served with coconut chutney and sambar.

This is a thin, crisp or soft crepe made from fermented rice and lentils, sometimes filled with spiced potato stuffing and is mostly served with sambar and coconut chutney.

It is popular in Kerala and some parts of Tamil Nadu and refers to a lacy pancake made from fermented rice batter and coconut milk. It is soft in the centre and crisp at the edges and is served with vegetable stew or coconut-based curries.

It is a traditional Kerala breakfast made by steaming rice flour with grated coconut in cylindrical moulds. It is commonly eaten with kadala curry.
