The one-plate dish bursting with flavours, offering a blend of warm and cold ingredients make it a delectable treat one can enjoy during winter months. Celebrating the beauty of this Indian street snack, here we have listed 8 types of comforting chaats one can enjoy during winter season.

Aloo Tikki Chaat


This popular chaat is made with shallow-fried aloo tikki stuffed with sauteed chana dal, and topped with salt, pepper, curd, chutney, lemon juice, sev, coriander leaves, and fresh pomegranate seeds.

Shakarkandi Chaat


This is one of the most popular winter chaats, where steamed/boiled/charred sweet potato cubes are tossed with salt, pepper, cumin, and lemon juice and served on a leaf plate with a toothpick.

Hare Matar ki Chaat



This chaat offers a slight sweet after taste, as the tender peas are sauteed in mustard oil along with hing, cumin, and green chillies. To which puffed rice or fried flattened rice is added and served warm.

Hara Chana Chaat


This chaat is made with fresh and tender hara chana available in the market. One can steam it for a while or it can be simply washed and used to make chaat, to which tomato, onion, salt, pepper, lemon juice, cumin powder, and coriander seeds are added.

Kanji Vada


This unique dish of winter also falls in the category of chaat and is native Rajasthan. It consists of lentil (moong dal or urad dal) fritters or pakodas soaked in a tangy fermented mustard-flavoured drink called kanji. The drink uses filtered water, mustard powder, red chilli, salt, and sometimes beetroot for colour, which is fermented naturally for 2–3 days under sunlight. It is a probiotic-rich dish which is good for gut health.

Moong Dal ki Chaat



This is a protein-rich chaat made with par-boiled moong, seasoned with salt, pepper, lemon, onion, tomato, and coriander. It is served with a topping of sev.

Daulat ki Chaat


While this is called a chaat, it is actually a winter dessert, and consists of cloud-like froth of churned milk, seasoned with saffron, and served with powdered sugar and nuts on top.

Garadu Chaat


This chaat is made with yam, where the boiled yam cubes are deep or shallow-fried until they turn crispy outside. And then spices like red chilli, black pepper, dry mango powder, salt, and lemon juice are added and mixed well. It is best enjoyed warm during winter evenings.
