This is a South Indian delight, where partially cooked dosa is layered with spiced beaten egg along with onions, chillies, and coriander. It goes well with coconut chutney. It is a Middle Eastern classic, where eggs are poached in a spicy tomato and bell pepper sauce flavoured with garlic and cumin and is best served with crusty bread.

It refers to cooking an egg without its shell by simmering it in boiling water, which results in set whites and a soft, runny yolk, made without the use of oil or fat. It is best served with crusty bread, sauces, and salad.
