6 Ways to cook Broccoli perfectly

Are you someone who absolutely loves the delicious taste and crunchy texture of Broccoli, but finds it difficult to cook it in the right way. Then here are some easy ways to cook this vegetable perfectly each time and attain that perfect restaurant-like green colour and crunchy texture that too without putting in much efforts. Well, here are six easy ways to cook Broccoli like a pro!

2/8

Steaming

This is one of the easiest ways to prep up Broccoli for a salad or grilled delight. To begin with this method of cooking, just place a steamer basket over a pot of boiling water. Then cut the Broccoli into florets and steam for about 5-7 minutes or until it's tender but still has a slight crunch. This can be later tossed up with some spices, lemon juice and dressing to enjoy as a delightful salad.

3/8

Blanching

Bring a pot of water to a boil and prepare a bowl of ice water. Add Broccoli florets to the boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then immediately transfer them to the ice water to stop the cooking process.Once cooled, drain and season as desired. This also helps in retaining the crunch and as well as the colour.

4/8

Roasting

Another way of cooking Broccoli without impacting its taste, colour and texture is by roasting it in an oven. To begin with this easy way of cooking, just preheat your oven to 180°C-220°C. Meanwhile, wash and toss up the florets with olive oil, salt, and pepper on a baking sheet.

Roast for 10-15 minutes, turning halfway through, until the edges are crispy and golden.

5/8

Saute or stir-fry

To saute or stir-fry the Broccoli, just heat olive oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add chopped Broccoli and saute for 5-7 minutes until it becomes tender. Season with salt, pepper, and mixed herbs or spices.

6/8

Grilling

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Toss Broccoli florets with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Grill for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until the edges are slightly charred and the Broccoli is tender.

7/8

Microwaving

Place Broccoli florets in a microwave-safe dish with a splash of water. Cover the dish and microwave on high temperature for 3 minutes, check for doneness after each minute. Season and serve.

Benefits of broccoli

Broccoli is a nutrient-packed vegetable that offers a range of health benefits. Rich in vitamins, particularly vitamin C and vitamin K, broccoli supports a strong immune system and bone health. The presence of antioxidants in broccoli, such as sulforaphane, may help reduce the risk of chronic diseases.
With its fiber content, broccoli aids digestion and, as part of a balanced diet, can contribute to overall well-being. (Image: istock)
