How to boost nutrition of papaya

Starting the day with a bowl of papaya is always a good idea. Wondering why? Well, papaya is a nutrient-rich tropical fruit known for its digestive, immune-boosting, and skin-enhancing properties. It contains papain, an enzyme that aids digestion and prevents bloating. Packed with vitamin C, vitamin A, and antioxidants, papaya strengthens the immune system, improves vision, and promotes glowing skin. As per a study by the National Library of Medicine, the papaya pulp contains vitamins A, C, and E; B complex vitamins, such as pantothenic acid and folate; and minerals, such as magnesium and potassium, as well as food fibers. While this fruit is rich in many nutrients, adding some readily available ingredients to it can boost its nutritional value too. Take a look at these 5 things that one can add to a bowl of papaya to make it a complete breakfast.

2/7

Greek Yogurt

It is said to be rich in protein and probiotics that are good for gut health. As per a comprehensive study by PMC, it is rich in calcium, phosphorus, potassium, vitamins A, B2, and B12. It is also said to improve symptoms of constipation and enhance gut microbiota balance, supporting digestive health along with papaya.

3/7

Nuts and seeds

Nuts and seeds like almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, or chia are full of healthy fats, crunch, and minerals that along with papaya boost overall health. According to a study, intake of a handful of nuts per day is linked to relative risk reduction in cardiovascular diseases, including coronary heart disease, stroke mortality, and atrial fibrillation.

4/7

Rolled Oats

Consumption of oats is linked with slow-releasing of carbs and consumption of extra fiber along with papaya. As per studies too, oats are rich in beta-glucan (a soluble fiber) that helps reduce total and LDL cholesterol, which lowers cardiovascular disease risk. Beta-glucan also helps regulate insulin and blood pressure, contributing to heart health. Oats also promote a healthy gut microbiota by increasing beneficial bacteria like Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. The soluble fiber slows glucose absorption, making oats a good choice for people with type 2 diabetes or insulin resistance. And oats are also rich in manganese, phosphorus, magnesium, iron, zinc, folate, and B vitamins. Also, oats have a low glycemic index and help stabilize blood sugar levels, making them a good choice for people with diabetes and the fiber in oats keeps you full for longer, reducing unnecessary snacking.

5/7

Berries

It is said that berries like blueberries, strawberries, or mulberries when combined with papaya offer extra antioxidants and flavor. It is found that they are rich in antioxidants that reduce oxidative stress and inflammation, which are common underlying causes of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, neurological disorders, and cancer.
Berries are said to aid skin health by promoting collagen production and protecting against UV damage.

6/7

Honey

Adding honey to papaya helps add some extra dose of healthy fats and natural sweetness as well. As per experts, honey is said to improve glucose tolerance and may reduce fasting blood glucose levels, helping metabolic control in overweight, obese, and diabetic subjects. Honey also aids digestion by nourishing good gut bacteria, while its quick-releasing sugars provide an instant energy lift.

7/7

Benefits of papaya seeds

As per Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine, papaya seeds help detoxify the liver, support regeneration, and improve overall liver function. They contain polyphenols and flavonoids that help protect liver cells from oxidative damage and inflammation. Also, certain compounds in papaya seeds may aid in the repair and regeneration of damaged liver tissue.
