Korean dishes that have a similar taste as that of Indian dishes

While Korean and Indian cuisines are distinct and have their own unique flavours and ingredients, there are some dishes and ingredients that share similarities between the two cultures. From fermented sauces to mixed rice dishes, both cuisines have a rich history of creating dishes that are both savoury and spicy. Both Korean and Indian cuisine place a strong emphasis on the use of spices and seasonings to create complex and bold flavours. Additionally, both cuisines incorporate fermented foods and pickled vegetables into their dishes to add a tangy, sour flavour. While there may be some differences, it is clear that Korean and Indian cuisine share a passion for bold, flavourful dishes that are deeply rooted in their respective cultural traditions. Bibimbap and Pulao

Bibimbap is a popular Korean rice bowl dish made with rice, mixed vegetables, meat or tofu, and often topped with a fried egg. It can be compared to an Indian rice bowl dish like biryani or pulao, which also includes a mix of rice, vegetables, and meat.

Jjajangmyeon and Indian curries

It is a Korean-Chinese dish made with wheat noodles in a black bean sauce. The sauce is made with fermented soybeans and caramelized onions, giving it a slightly sweet and savoury flavour that is reminiscent of Indian curries.

Kimchi Stew and Rasam

Kimchi Stew is a hearty Korean soup made with fermented kimchi, tofu, meat or seafood, and vegetables. The soup has a spicy and sour taste, similar to Indian soups like Rasam or Sambar.

Kimchi and Achaar

Both these dishes are fermented and popularly enjoyed with a variety of dishes. No meal in Korea is complete without Kimchi, as it helps digest the food while boosting the metabolism. While same is the case for Achaar. It is fermented with spices and often enjoyed with Dal Chawal and Sabji Roti to increase the flavour of dishes while boosting the flavour of a dish.

Yakgwa and Imarti

If we talk about Yakgwa, it’s a sweet dish enjoyed by many in Korea and is prepared with wheat flour along with honey, sesame oil, ginger juice and rice wine. This dessert is known to be deep fried and then soaked in a mixture of honey and cinnamon powder and dried. In India, we majorly enjoy the dessert called Imarti that’s made from urad dal flour and is deep fried, which is later soaked in a sugar syrup.
