​​Michelin starred chefs reveal 5 easy avocado dishes

Avocado is quite a versatile ingredient which is used in a variety of dishes. Be it breakfast, lunch, or dinner, avocado could easily become the star of any meal. They are a great source of vitamins C, E, K, and B-6, as well as riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantothenic acid, magnesium, and potassium. They also provide lutein, beta-carotene, and omega-3 fatty acids. Thus, there is no doubt about the fact that they are good for health also.


Recently, in an interview with an American online media company, Michelin starred chefs revealed their love for avocado and the dishes that they prefer to cook with them. These dishes are undoubtedly mouthwatering and very easy to make. If you are also a fan of avocado, here is a look at the recipes.

​Avocado Fries

A favourite of Chef David Shim, they are crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside. Even more interestingly, they need only 4 ingredients: 1 avocado, 1 cup flour, 1 egg, and 50 gm. bread crumbs. First, cut the avocado into wedges. Coat each wedge in flour and dip it in an egg wash before covering it with the bread crumbs (mixed with pepper and salt). Then just fry all your wedges until they are golden brown.

​Avocado Raita

It is a favourite of San Francisco based Chef Srijith Gopinathan. Gopinathan loves using avocado in raita — a popular condiment in South Asian cuisine that combines yoghurt with different herbs and veggies. His recipe for the raita is very simple too: mix 1 avocado (chopped) with 1 onion (chopped), 1 cup yoghurt, 2 tsp. lemon juice, 1tbsp. chopped ginger, 2tbsp. cilantro stems, 1 tomato (chopped), and a little bit of salt.

​Tomatillo Avocado Salsa

As per Chef Dan Kleinhander, it goes well as a side with any chicken recipe. It is quite easy to make and requires 1 avocado, 1 onion, 50 gm. tomatillo (husked, rinsed, and halved), and 2-3 jalapeños. Place everything in the food processor along with some salt and lemon juice and process until smooth.

​​Avocado Guacamole

Val Cantu, a San Francisco based head chef, is a huge fan of avocado guacamole. He prefers to keep it simple, hence the recipe is as basic as it could be: Chop 1 onion and squeeze two limes into a little bowl, add a hefty pinch of salt, and then soak the onions in that lime juice for 10-15 minutes. Add 1 chopped avocado, 3-4 chopped serrano peppers/chillies and 2 tbsp. chopped cilantro. Fold everything together.

​Classic Avocado Toast

It is a favourite of Chef Suzette Gresham and can be made very easily: toast your slice of bread until golden and firm. Take 1 avocado, chop it and add a pinch of salt. Spread the avocado on top of the toast, drizzle some honey on top, and sprinkle some more smoked salt.
