Designer Arjun Khanna says prints and patterns are high on his list this season Designer Arjun Khanna has been a well-known name in the fashion industry for over 22 years now. A graduate from London, Arjun established his label in Bombay, in 1990. There was no looking back and today he is considered one of the leading designers in India. Arjun believes that clothes should be beautiful, classic and wearable.
Here’s what he suggests for Indian festive wear:
Colours: Prints and patterns are high on my list this season. Heavy colours teamed together make the palette for this festive season. Chocolate browns teamed with royal blue, burgundy and earthy tones such as rust teamed with blood red are definitely the colours for the season. Men can accessorise their look with cuff-links, neck-pieces, cravats and these can even be teamed with sherwanis. Like my collection showcased, it's all about the 'dandy' this season.
Silhouettes: The flavour of the season is very out of the box, unpredictable. The festive season this year is all about bandhgalas and short cropped jackets. Bandhgalas teamed with jodhpurs and even denims, shorter sherwanis with salwars and churidaars are what I would recommend for Diwali and thereon.
Fabric: Heavier linens and cottons for the day that flow into velvets and even lightweight wool would be my pick for the men. The look is all about luxurious patterns and opulence, so it's alright to opt for fabrics such as brocade.
