Lungi or dhoti? Kolkata boys Gaurav Chakrabarty and Shaheb Bhattacherjee rock the desi drapes

Dhotis are a must-have during Durga Puja, but what if we told you now you can pair a lungi with your favourite kurta? Stars from the South have already made it a style statement, and you can take a cue from them to stand out of from the crowd too. In an exclusive shoot for CT, actors Gaurav Chakraborty and Shaheb Bhattacherjee take a leap of faith to show us funky lungi drapes along with new ways to wear a dhoti this Pujo.

Lungi the right way:

• Gaurav flaunted a lungi like a co-ord set, teaming it with a pair of white sneakers
• Shaheb paired his lungi with a floral shirt and Kolhapuri sandals
• Drape a lungi with a printed shirt, or like a co-ord set for an edgy look

I was a bit hesitant to drape a lungi for a shoot, but the experience turned out to be an eye opener. Dhoti-kurta is something I’m comfortable with, given it’s the quintessential Bengali outfit, but lungi is a different story all together!– Gaurav Chakrabarty, actor

My look with a lungi and a half-sleeved shirt turned out to be better than my expectations and looks amazing. I realised, if styled well, a lungi can be extremely versatile. The way my dhoti has been styled, adds an extra layer to the outfit. I wore it like a pant and paired it with a shirt and a jacket.
