How to dress chic for music fest
Earlier this year when model Alessandra Ambrosio and her gal pals attended a music festival in the US, they were the cynosure of all eyes.
Dressed to the nines, they proved that girls can up their glam quotient at casual events. With several music fests lined up in the city over the next few weeks, here’s how you can make heads turn for all the right reasons.
Fusion fare
If you are attending a fest in an exotic location (read a boutique hotel or a palace), it’s time to experiment with your look.
1x1 polls
Wear a flowy maxi dress. Team it up with a tote and chunky earrings. If this is too feminine for your liking, then opt for a T-shirt with harem pants or a bandeau with a long skirt. Complete the look with an embroidered jacket and a pair of booties. Wear a tight bun and play up your eyes with a hint of metallic liner, loads of mascara and a bright lipstick.
City capers
Opt for a short dress and team it up with long chains, cuffs and rings. Tie your tresses in a high ponytail along with a bandana so that your locks stay prim and proper as you groove to the music. Protect your peepers with trendy sunglasses. Carry your essentials in a tasselled tan bag and complete the look with ankle-length boots.
Camp it out
It’s time to get in touch with nature and dress up in comfortable clothing. Settle down for a ganji, a pair of denim shorts and sneakers. Wear a fedora and aviators. Tie a denim shirt or jacket around the waist during the day, so that if it gets chilly in the night, you can wear it over your singlet. Highlight your eyes with a thick liner and go for nude lips. Since this look is casual, keep the jewellery minimal. Carry your essentials in a carryall or satchel.

Sun-kissed splendour
Soak up the sun, let your hair down and have fun with your attire at a beach fest. Team up a bright bikini top with a pair of shorts. Throw in a sheer coverall over it. Complete the look with a bandana, glares, colourful bangles and footwear with floral motifs. Opt for a side braid or leave your tresses loose, wear a coral or fuchsia lipstick and use foiled tattoos on the side of your eyes.
Things to remember
Music fests are casual affairs , but that doesn’t mean you don’t follow any etiquette.
Here are some points that you need to bear in mind:
- Dress according to the occasion
- Ensure that your attire is in sync with the venue and the genre of music that will be played
- Switch off your cell phone
- The last thing you want is your favourite musician reprimanding you in public for disrupting his act
- Hold that drink
- Be careful not to spill that drink on someone else while you get caught in the frenzy of grooving to foot-tapping numbers
- Take selfies at the right time
- Wait for the artistes to finish their act before you plead with them for a selfie, lest you incur their wrath
