Tradition in threads

The grace and charm of Chikankari sarees dipped in ivory hues have always been the epitome of elegance and royalty. Radiating and unmatched beauty, this Indian traditional art bloomed from the city of Lucknow and is now seen on sarees, dupattas, lehengas, and salwar suits as well. Creating a striking show with a hint of royalty, let’s see how our Bollywood actresses paired them with matching blouse pieces and brought back a hint of history with them.

Genelia Deshmukh

Genelia opted for a stunning white Chikankari saree envisioned by master couturiers Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla. This regal creation took around six to eight months to complete and is deeply rooted in the designer duo’s journey of over 35 years. The saree boasted small floral motifs with glistening sequins, pearls, and floral motifs that looked iconic with a matching pearl tassel blouse on the hem of the sleeves.

Deepika Padukone

Dressed in fine royalty, no one can forget the iconic Chikankari saree with a beautiful royal veil worn by Deepika Padukone at her Bangalore reception. Colour coordinating with Ranveer Singh, who wore a similar colour outfit by Rohit Bal, Deepika trusted the vision of Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla and brought traditional royalty in this intricate Chikankari carved saree with a matching blouse and a huge dupatta veil with a statement golden border.
