From Deepika Padukone to Priyanka Chopra: The one bag every Bollywood celeb is carrying!

A casual utilitarian appendage in the 90s, the fanny pack, has seen a rather glamorous resurgence and many actresses across the country seem to have taken to the trend. In quite a blast from the past, the humble bag strung tight over a pair of baggy jeans and a tee, is now seeing celebs making a solid style statement on the red carpet, at movie premieres, as airport looks or even when stepping out for a causal day with the girls.

“Fanny packs are back in vogue, and for a reason. They’re stylish, super comfortable and easy to carry,” says actress Rashmika Mandanna, who has been spotted sporting them when she is travelling. Rashmika, who has done several Kannada and Telugu films, adds, “They’re small and compact, and are something that you can just attach to yourself with no scope of forgetting to carry it along. They are basically less drama.”

Another Bengaluru-based actress Pranitha Subhash, who loves experimenting with her look, tells us that fanny packs are her latest fashion fix. “They may have had humble beginnings, but right now, the biggest luxury brands have picked up the concept and are giving the fanny pack a glamorous twist. I own a few pieces and sport them during media gatherings and even at the red carpet,” she says, adding, “It is a perfect solution when you head out for a party as well, because it can easily hold all you essentials — such as your wallet, phone and keys, and yet keep your hands totally free.”
