The Victorian touch: This final Wedding Asia preview in the capital on Monday was high on Victorian influence. Jai, from the designer duo Parvesh and Jai, said, “There’s a Victorian feel to the lehengas. These days girls travel a lot, they see different places and they want fashion from those places to be incorporated in their wedding trousseau. So we’ve tried to do that.
The gheras are big, duppatas are sheer and there’s a bit of skin show too.” Parvesh added, “The lehengas are visually very heavy, but wearing-wise they’re weightless. It is the most comfortable attire for a bride.” And this showed on the models’ faces while they were effortlessly walking the ramp.
Zara hatke colours: The preview showcased various trends for the coming wedding season. Parvesh said, “There is a lot of summer wedding collection in the show.” Jorge Terra, a Spanish designer present at the event said, “I liked the green, yellow and off-white attire, because you don’t generally see such colours in a wedding collection. But my favourite was the champagne-coloured dress.” Anupreet of Wedding Asia said excitedly, “We have got tremendous response. With such a positive response in the preview we are sure that our exhibition will rock”. She added that she is planning a show in Mumbai as well. The Wedding Asia exhibition is from July 22 to 24.
