Kolkata Fashion Week - Season II sent the City of Joy into a tizzy what with eminent designers Wendell Rodricks, Rocky S, Zubair Kirmani, Narendra Kumar, Manish Malhotra and Bibi Russell showcasing their creations at the five-day long affair.
The event kickstarted with Ritu Kumar rocking the ramp on September 9. The grand final�� on September 13 had Manish Malhotra as the show-stealer.
Bollywood, too, made its presence felt in a big way with Irrfan Khan, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Nandana Sen, Rimi, Sophie Choudry, Amrita Rao, Sameera Reddy, Mandira Bedi, Minissha Lamba, Riya and Rituparna Sengupta as showstoppers.
The star appeal on the ramp continued with Bhaichung Bhutia and Ronit Roy drawing applause from the audience.
If Zubair sprung his showstopping surprise with Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and his sons, Amaan and Aayan, walking the ramp, Rocky S had Virender Sehwag to bowl the maidens over. Designer Tejas Gandhi, on his part, chose real people to walk the walk and that included Indian women���s cricket captain Jhulan Goswami.
Kolkata-based designers Monapali, Kiran Uttam Ghosh, Abhishek Dutta, Soumitra Mondal, Dev r Nil too drew loud rounds of applause.
According to a senior official of Mindscapes Maestros Events & Sports Management Limited, the buyer���s section turned out to be a successful platform for all emerging designers this year. ���There have been bulk orders and most buyers have shown a keen interest in the lines of Kolkata designers. In future, we hope to organise the event in a much bigger manner,��� said the official.
