Catwalk calls: With news abounding that most top Indian models will be a part of the fashion shows during IPL this season, there was much excitement in the air during the model auditions for the upcoming edition of the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW).
However, this time, only 80 girls turned up for the auditions, fewer than the numbers that turned up last year.
1x1 polls
FDCI president Sunil Sethi told us, “You see, we only have to select 10 models from this pool. So, this is a good enough number.”
Jury decides: However, there were visible misgivings on the faces of many jury members, as most girls who walked the ramp were freshers. Designer Rahul Khanna, part of the jury, told us, “We’ll only be taking 5-6 of the best ones from this batch. So, there’s nothing much to worry about. Also, many seasoned models are considering walking for WIFW too.”
Brainstorming: There was much deliberation between the judges and Sethi happily told us, “You see, this is a balanced jury. There are two choreographers - Asha Kochhar and Aparna Bahl - who’ll give different points of view; different designers too will ensure the same. All this has been done in a bid to bring objectivity to the decision.”
Ramp fun: Some from the jury were extremely amused by certain aspirants, but did their best to hide their amusement.
Second time lucky: Amusing it might have been, but this audition session was not as fruitful as expected, as FDCI later held another round of auditions later. The 10 new faces were decided during the second round.
