Celebrating Indianness
At the Lakme Fashion Week Fall/Winter09, the grand finale was presented by designer Anamika Khanna.
Guests who walked in were welcomed with the humdrum of temple bells. Bowls filled with rice adorned the sides of the ramp, giving a sense of traditional Indian festivity. As the lights dimmed, the head ramp lit up gradually.
Taking confident strides, models flaunted ensembles with fantastic cuts such as lehengas teamed with a slim golden belt, churidaars peeping under the sarees, pastel shades with golden borders of one-shoulder kaftans, bordered kurtas with interesting knots in fabrics which reflected the confluence of many states and cultures.

The entire look was of a woman who is sensuous yet knows where to draw the line to be called dressed too sexily. Its her mind which decides the way she wants to dress up, said designer Anamika Khanna.
And indeed this crisp show sans much drama was aptly for a woman who has a soul, is informed and intelligent, is exposed to the world, and also knows how her fashion sensibility will befit an occasion.
Then the free faces of Lakme sported this sensibility with models Vipasha Agarwal, Indrani Dasgupta and Amrit Maghera who presented the Lakm Bridal Sutra Summer 2009 collection with designer Anamika Khanna.
