Everything you want to know about Priyanka Chopra's RED wedding lehenga

The world can't stop gushing about Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas' wedding, but we can't get over the pretty bride's breathtaking lehenga. While some have really loved Priyanka's 'different' lehenga, some have wondered why the actress went for such a simple lehenga. And, here's the interesting story behind Priyanka's bridal lehenga.

Why red?

According to Priyanka's wedding stylist, Ami Patel, the actress always wanted red. "Red! That's the colour she wanted for her Hindu wedding. No gold no other colour mixed into this, just pure red," Ami shared on Instagram.

The designer behind it

Priyanka Chopra made for a stunning bride in a custom red Sabyasachi lehenga. Hand-embroidered and hand-cut organza flowers, French knots in silk floss, delicate Siam-red crystals and layer upon layer of thread work embroidery creates this piece of impossible couture.

The karigars

110 embroiderers from Kolkata took 3720 man hours to create this modern masterpiece.

The jewellery

The lehenga was adorned by resplendence of Mughal jewellery crafted with uncut diamonds, emeralds and Japanese cultured pearls in 22 karat gold and had delicate tiny stars in uncut diamonds to give a sense of whimsy to an important traditional piece.

The dulha

Nick gave equal competition to Priyanka with his hand-quilted silk sherwani with a hand-embroidered chikan dupatta and a chanderi tissue safa. His rose cut kalgi and syndicate diamond necklace are from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry collection.
