Imagination is the heart of design, transforming dreams into draped reality, painting emotion with fabric. This is at the core of Wild at Heart, Aisha Rao’s debut couture collection showcased at India Couture Week. With every silhouette, embellishment, and installation, she celebrates the untamed poetry of nature, memory, and fantasy.
Wild at Heart blooms like a tropical reverie - lush botanicals, dramatic tailoring, and layers of opulence. Rao weaves a world where banana leaves, lotus petals, and palm blossoms intersect with architectural blazers and flowing lehengas. There’s structure and softness, geometry and garden, hand-drawn florals layered over sharp lines, embroidery dancing with exaggerated forms.
Showstopper
Sara Ali Khan captured the collection’s essence best, “I’ve always been drawn to pieces that tell a story, and this look really does that for me. I’m wearing the rose gold Banarasi tissue brocade lehenga with intricate appliqué, detailed in geometric checks and whimsical florals with beads and crystals embroidery by Aisha, and what I love about it is how light and effortless it feels. Every detail is so thoughtfully done.
It’s playful, graceful, and beautifully made. I’m so glad I get to wear something that feels so me today.”
Rao herself reflected on the moment, “Wild at Heart is deeply personal, an expression of fantasy, freedom, and everything we love about maximalism. We’re incredibly grateful for the platform, for the collaborators who believed in the vision, and for the chance to reimagine bridal and occasion wear on such a grand, storied stage.”
The runway transformed into a sculptural forest in collaboration with Kohler, springing Teakberry, Lush Green, and Brushed Rose Gold elements into soaring palms and artful backdrops. It blurred the line between indoor opulence and wild elegance. This was couture as immersive installation, earth meets imagination, contrast becomes character.
She extended her visual storytelling into jewellery via a special collaboration with SHREE Jewellers, pieces crafted not as accessories, but as extensions of the garments. Rose - cut diamonds, baguettes, and color-infused briolettes echoed the collection’s palette and maximalist soul, sculptural yet wearable.
With Wild at Heart, Aisha Rao isn’t just designing clothes, she’s scripting dreams in couture. In every stitch, every bloom, every structural flourish, she reminds us that fashion can be fantasy and fantasy can feel deeply real.
