Pradeep and Mala Sinhas Bodhi will unveil a collection of hand printed fabrics and garments inspired from Indias rich textile heritage....Art on fabric is fast catching up with contemporary designers. And the desire to showcase the richness of ethnic Indian textiles has prompted designers Pradeep and Mala Sinha to promote designs that are contemporary yet classic.
Their studio workshop in Baroda houses fabrics, sarees, dupattas and garments designed, printed and embellished by a team of artisans.
Says Mala, Hand printing is not only laborious and demanding at times, but also requires tremendous skill and judgment on the part of the printer. These traditional methods of printing and embellishing textiles and fabrics not only reveal its makers talents but also involve the users in a detailed production process. Therefore a handcrafted process cant help but resonate in the products beauty and this resonates in a way the users enjoy our products.
The Bodhi studios efforts in the industry are directed towards integrating technology with the traditional methods of producing fabric and experimenting with new designs, colours and patterns, to bring out products that are rich in quality and suit the latest fashion requirements.
Every single piece is the outcome of a huge amount of experimenting, and learning about the fabric before creating something from it. Says Mala, The look is high on making a statement that is understated. We want something that is elegant for the customer.
The collection, which will showcase in Ahmedabad is a mix of sarees in pure kota, venkatgiri, maheshwari, pure silk georgettes and chiffons as well as mulberry and tussar silks, in addition to cotton dress fabrics, dupattas and a range of kaftans, bathrobes and loungewear.
